Architecture Analysis

The State Seal
Observations:
1) Large Size
2) Represents Tennessee
3) Made of Marble
4) Shows what Tennessee's main economical things were back when the state was entered in the union - Agriculture & Commerce

Conclusions:
The state seal outside the library on Volunteer Blvd is quite large in size. This is probably because UT wants everyone to see how affiliated the university is with the state, and probably wants to get more funding from the state as well. Made of marble, it shows high culture but still stands firm but has roots to the earth at the same time. Another thing to incorporate is the age old superstition of when you walk on it, you won't graduate from the university in 4 years. Even though I don't think that this is true, I still find myself not having walked on it to this day. Another thing to look at is the difference of the university seal and the state seal. The years are different, but they have the same things such as agriculture and commerce.
