First Video:
Observations - One scene
No fancy camera work
Use of an egg to describe brain
This video is generated towards just a general audience. Very simple but to the point. Made with a somewhat education-based tone, this commercial is semi-effective. There is a clear message, but there should be a little more to it.
Second Video:
Observations - Use of egg again to describe brain
Longer than first video
Destruction of fragile objects
This video is a little different than the first. It is Generated more towards teenagers, by use of the famous actress imposed in the commercial. The tone is very much different, utilizing a much more livid tone rather than educational. One similarity is the last line of both commercials - "Any questions?"
These commercials both have their similarities and differences. But, within both, the egg and what is destroyed in the latter commercial have a lot of symbolism. By using an egg to describe a brain, it shows how fragile it is, a thin shell that can be broken easily by drugs. Also, the plates, glasses, almost everything in the kitchen is broken, which is also meaningful. Things that are getting broken are as fragile as friends, family, money, job, self-respect, and your future, all of which can easily be busted by drugs.
